Training for the use of pesticides is a legal requirement. Use of pesticides is governed by the Food and Environment Protection Act 1985 (FEPA), the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER) and the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations (COSHH).
The regulations require employers to ensure that pesticides are applied only by employees who have received appropriate training in their safe use. If you are self-employed, the regulations still apply.
