course members to:

Understand the principles behind safe manual handling of loads |

lift, carry and lower loads within their personal capacity |

state the parts of the body which are at risk of injury when lifting
incorrectly |

list the techniques that can be applied to the manual handling of
loads |

suggest ways in which tasks involving the lifting and moving of heavy
loads can be achieved safely and with minimum effort |

observe the improvements made in their manual handling skills |

handling of loads. |

Facilities/Equipment required: |
Venue
- Warm, well lit room with adequate tables and chairs in open U,
lighting and power points. Washroom and toilet facilities.
- Site near the training room for the practical sessions – for office
based staff this can be carried out in training room.
- Samples of materials that delegates lift in normal work environment.
