At the end of the course, participants will be able to:
develop knowledge covering the requirements of current legislation
apply pesticides safely and
efficiently
identify and select appropriate
applicator, carry out machine preparation
and calibration
operate the equipment in compliance with current legislation and codes
of practice
clean equipment, and dispose of unwanted pesticides and containers
identify and rectify faults and recognise conditions when spraying is
inadvisable
All without risk to self or third party
Who is the Course For?
This course is designed for all those involved in operating and
maintaining ground crop sprayers. Participants should
have attended course Safe Use of
Pesticides or hold the recognised certificate of competence ‘Safe Use
of Pesticides, Environmental Factors and Legislation’.
Duration/Format
One day practical for experienced operators
Two days practical for those with little or no
experience
NVQ/SVQ Linkage
This supports learning towards achievement of a FEPA Certificate of
Competence, which is a requirement of many NVQs/SVQs, for example
‘Forestry’ level 2 and most Agricultural and Commercial Horticulture
awards at level 3.
